Healing Dance - Being Thankful

Healing Dance - Being Thankful

by Markham Arts Council

Friday, October 9, 2020

10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Join us in inviting Munni Subhani for a healing dance workshop.

Recently commended on her work by Ontario's Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Munni is a Canadian dance teacher of Bengali heritage. She uses dance to transcend borders, boundaries, cultures, and age groups. Munni has been studying music and Kathak dance since her childhood, both of which inspired her to open the Lamis School of Music and Dance when she immigrated to Toronto.

Gaining popularity from her dance school, Munni began working with students of all ages, ethnicities, and abilities. Working with diverse dancers, Munni discovered that dance benefits not only the body, but the soul as well, boosting self-esteem, promoting emotional well-being, and fostering cultural connections. This inspired her to develop a therapeutic Indian dance form, Healing Dance - that she now practices and teaches worldwide.
